Color Guard

As you already know, I am in the Color Guard for the Young Marnies. So as you might imagine, I am doing several parades and ceremonies. On Memorial Day, our unit participated in a parade in Milan, Michigan as well as two ceremonies. Being the shortest Young Marine in the Color Guard, it is rather hard for me to keep up, expecially in column movements. My favorite maneuver is reverse colors and wheels. I am in the National Rifleman. Which means that I guard the American Flag. I think that is better than being a Young Marine rifleman. My brother Jason has that job. Being in the Color Guard I have to keep my boots really shiny. I have been working on them for the past two days. I can actually see my face clearly. I am still not done yet. They are as shiny as my dad's dress shoes. I enjoy being a memeber of the Color Guard.

Reading

I love reading. Currently I am in the middle of the Left Behind series. They are a great joy to read and they are very interesting. If my books come in the form of a history book and Air Force book or just a pleasure read, I devour it.

Being a Christian I love reading the Bible. I am in the middle of Matthew and Revelation. It is also a thrill to read science books. (My family has actually helped me set up a whole chem lab in the basement.) The most thrilling branch of science that I like is chemistry. I think it's very interesting. For history I'm going through a course called History of Us, which is exactly what it sounds like. It begins in the 1600's and continues through 1998. they are very good. I also enjoy reading about aviation. Since I want to be a pilot I do a lot of studying. I especially like aviation books about the Air Force. My favorite fighters are the F-16 Fighting Falcon and the F-15 Eagle. Though I also like the Hairier and FA/18 Hornet. I just had the pleasure of getting a book called Modern Battlefield Warplanes for my birthday. The book is all pictures, which I like. I think reading is a great thing.

Flying

Since I was young, I have loved flying. Whether it came in the form of a paper airplane or the real deal. The first time I had the chance to fly was on a corporate jet from Pontiac Airport to Willow Run in Canton. I have recently become a member of the Young Eagles program. They actually let you control of a Cessna 172 while it's flying. I already know alot about from looking and reading about them. I still have alot to learn. It would be a great thrill to get my pilots license when I am 16. (I am 12.) I am also thinking about going to the Air Force Academy and flying there or getting a private pilots license. I think flying is a great thing.

Jason is my oldest brother. Actually Jason is my only brother. He also has a blog called Adrenaline. He is a very enjoyable brother even though we do get at each other sometimes. Even though he broke his arm he still will come out and play basketball or soccer and a little bit of dodge ball. He is a very generous guy. For example, he likes taking me out to eat. Overall, he is just a great brother.

Why I Like Being Homeschooled

One of the reasons I like homeschooling is because I like the freeedom to get up early in the morning and do my schoolwork before lunch, and the fact that I can take a break for a couple of hours and come back later. I also like the fact that I don't have to walk to a school. I also get a chance to go on more field trips which I think is really great. I am glad I have this opportunity.

Young Marines

I enjoy Young Marines tremendously. It is a program that teaches you pride and self respect along with a military side like physical fitness and drill. You get a set of BDU'S (Battle Dress Uniform). You learn alot of Marine Corps history. There is a 26 hour boot camp and then you take a test to become a Young Marine. I graduated in February. Saying sir and ma'am and keeping yourself and your stuff clean was quite a challenge for me. But my parents helped me alot. They also teach you survival (camping etc.) and other stuff like rapelling and scuba diving. I just took my PFC (Private First Class) test and passed. I am glad God brought me here. I have learned alot and hope to learn more.

What I like about my Grandpa

I think my Grandpa is one of greatest people and I am glad GOD brought him into my life. I like my grandpa is because he’ll take me out to eat or will play a game with me. If I need something like shoes he’ll send Grandma to buy me a pair. I like his humble personality. He also can add a lot of humor to a conversation and he never really gets mad even if I beat him. He is a wonderful mentor to me and I have learned a lot from him.

How I started playing violin

I started thinking about playing the violin when I was about eight years old. I found it very enjoyable. At first I thought it would just be for fun. Then when I got into it I thought I might want to go into music. I have been playing for about six years and am a member of a youth orchestra. I like it alot. I have to reaudtion every year. I am working on a piece called Concerto in A minor and I hope to do well. Violin is my primary instrument but I also play trumpet in a concert band.

A Soldier Comes to Drill

I am in a group called the Young Marines. Last week at drill one of the instructor's sons, who is a soldier in the United States Army, came and visited our company. He had just come back from Iraq. He showed us a slide who of what he was doing out in Iraq. He had a picture of his convoy which is alot longer than you might think. It was about a mile long. He was very inspiring. I think it's great how their defending our freedom.
